J2 Consulting Engineers has two directors James Alexander and James Sunjaya.
J2 has offices in NSW and SA however are registered to work as consulting engineers throughout all regions of the country. Due to our company structure we are flexible and adaptable and are willing to consider any project opportunities around the country. If in doubt, just ask us and we will be able to tailor our services to suit your requirements.
Rather than using medium to large organisations offering mediocre service at a premium price, J2 was established to do the opposite; to offer quality documentation and solutions sensitive to the client’s needs within a reasonable timeframe and for a reasonable cost.
The company directors have extensive backgrounds in the fields of building, building certification and fire services design and thus the solutions adopted have a commercial reality and consider ‘buildabilty’ on site.
J2 understands that clients expect quality solutions, and designs reflective of these solutions. At J2 both James Sunjaya and James Alexander take ownership of projects and act as a single point of contact for all projects. The experience provided by J2 is a personal experience tailored to suit your specific project requirements. J2 consulting engineers recognise that the ‘one size fits all’ approach does not work for most clients and strive to offer optimum building solutions with the client’s requirements always at the front of mind.

Fire Safety Engineering
Our fire engineers are registered as building practitioners in NSW, QLD, VIC, TAS and NT with no current requirement for registration in SA and WA. We optimise performance based designs for our clients across the country and find workable and pragmatic design solutions without compromising of the life safety of building occupants. We can also undertake peer reviews, BCA Fire and Life Safety Reports and Fire and Life Safety Upgrade strategies for existing building.
Essential Services Maintenance Reviews
At J2 Consulting Engineers we understand that life safety typically relies upon the active and passive fire and life safety systems installed in the building. Due to the reliance on these systems, maximising system reliability through preventative maintenance is legislated by each state and territory. Our consulting services offer an opportunity to review and develop a more integrated, optimised and holistic approach for your preventative maintenance contracts. Contact our office if you require a review of your preventative maintenance contracts/systems to determine if there are any opportunities for improvement.
Building Services Design
J2 Consulting Engineers also has capabilities for building services design and specialises in delivery of design and construct documentation working with builders and contractors to deliver streamlined, cost effective and sustainable design solutions. Detailed design documentation can also be provided by our office and our approach can be tailored to suit client requirements.
Bushfire Design
Our office has experience in the design and construction of buildings in bushfire prone areas including undertaking Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) assessments, providing general building advice, fire suppression design and fire engineering alternative solutions.
James Sunjaya is also an operational firefighter with the SA Country Fire Service and ensures that design solutions adopted cater for both the operational requirements of attending firefighters whilst minimising visual impact and maximising asset protection against the threat of bushfire.
Access Consulting
Access to premises for all occupants is an important part of building design to ensure that compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act is achieved. Our office has accredited professionals which provide consulting advice and seeks to address alternative solutions where possible and relevant to each unique building scenario.
BCA Consulting
Both of our directors have a solid knowledge in BCA compliance with James Alexander accredited as an A1 accredited building certifier with the NSW Building Practitioner’s Board. Our office provides BCA compliance advice and can outline any deviations from the Deemed to Satisfy provisions of the BCA.
